Muçum Park was established where part of the municipality of Muçum once stood, destroyed by the tragic flood of 2024. In 2025, at the initiative of SEDUR (Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul), the park was created to be a leisure area resilient to future extreme climatic events and, at the same time, a living memory of the municipality and the history that once existed here. Spanning 27,000 m², the park is characterized by floodable and wetland areas, biodiversity islands for water retention, leisure and sports areas, and spaces where the material and immaterial memory of the neighborhood is present. Some elements that remained after the floods were preserved as testimonies to the tragedy, monuments for memory and awareness for future generations. A system of rain gardens integrated with the wetland areas, permeable pavements, and native vegetation creates an environment where water becomes an integral part of the landscape, people's lives, and a structuring element for the creation of multiple ecosystems.
