The design for the Rio 2016 Olympic Park competition proposes the creation of green infrastructure as a strategy to ensure a sustainable future for the area. By innovatively integrating ecological technologies into the urban design, the aim is to achieve more durable and resilient urbanization. The adopted environmental approach creates more efficient models for protecting the local landscape, integrated into a strategy for regenerating existing natural ecosystems. The project is structured into distinct design layers, encompassing the management of flows and water, vegetation typologies, and the relationship between open spaces and built elements, based on spatial and environmental organization schemes.
